Ametrine and Further Confusion
Ametrine VVS 1 Question: I was wondering how much a 104 carat ametrine is worth?
Healing Crystals and Gemstones: From Amethyst to Zircon
Price: $14.98 USD
David Answered… Well thanks for such a short sharp command, I guess I’d better go jump now, except you didn’t tell me ‘How High’.
Never mind, lets get down to business…
Answer: G’day Ulysses and many thanks for your very short command!
The simple answer is ‘Whatever you can get for it’ because there is no fixed price for anything - including jewelry and gemstones. You as a willing buyer payed what you thought was a fair price to a willing seller. End of story.
An Ametrine is nothing more than a cross between an Amethyst and a Citrine - and they are both part of the Quartz group of gemstones. Neither can be classified as ‘Top class’ when it comes to gemstones (diamond, sapphire, ruby, emerald and opal) and there is no classification as VVS1 for these gemstones because that is a Diamond Clarity Classification anyway.
You might like to take it to your local FRIENDLY gemologist Appraiser and have them do a full written appraisal for you (there will be a charge) but at least then you’ll know and can stop guessing. Remember that an appraisal is for INSURANCE REPLACEMENT and has nothing to do with a price on the open market.
You might also like to add this query to our Jewelry Forum where there are more ‘Experts’ as other may have had a similar problem. Can’t hurt anyway and who knows what answers you may get.
Hope this helps…
