Baguette Diamonds
Baguette Diamond Repair…
I bought a ring from a jewelry store and went to get it cleaned.
Price: $8.03 USD
Well the three “baguettes” fell out and of course they repaired it and put them back in, by doing so they ended up putting deep scratches in the ring, so they are going to replace it.
The manager told me that the ring was Palladium which is in the Platinum family.
I bought the ring thinking it was Platinum.
They are going to replace it for me but I don’t want to get ripped off.
What do you think I should do now before I get them to do something about it?
Thanks Sohel
Answer: G’day Sohel and many thanks for your query
Most Jewelers would rather give you a credit than have to give you the money back - at least that way they keep the money.
If you are NOT happy about the ring - Tell them. They will not eat you!
Suggest an exchange to sometihing of similar or even extra value (even if it’s only a few dollars more) and you’ll see the light in their eyes light up $$$$$ Kaching!
That way you should get what you want without resorting to legal action.
But if they won’t come to the table, take it to the Department of Fair Trading (or whatever body you have in your country) and follow through with it.
Remember to keep all receipts and even write down what happened in a diary. That way you’ll have written evidence.
Personally - I would try the ‘unsatisfied customer’ stance first, as that way are negotiating an easier path all round.
You might like to add this on my Blog at this address: http://how2valuejewelry.com/ and also follow up with it so other clients can see how you went.
Hope this helps…
