I would like to find direction of where to sell them with consultation of what I have from credible dealers.
My family for more than 50 years were gem & mineral members.
Would like to do my best in this with your help. My grandpa and grandma both side also members.
Should I take these to jewelry stores.? Gem & mineral societies? personal members that could still be alive? guest exhibitors ? Dealers out of this area?

Answer: G'day Lin and many thanks for your query
The first thing you must understand is that there is NO FIXED price for anything - especially gemstones.
It is what you (as a willing seller) can get from a willing buyer.
Try places like eBay to get a comparison. Once you find similar items you will get a better idea of what they will fetch on the open market.
Your local (or nearest city) may have an auction house and will advise you without charge to the sale of any Gemstones and Minerals. You can make a decision then.
My main advice though is to NEVER sell them to someone who has valued them for you.
They may be telling you little while lies - just to buy a bargain.
And NEVER advertise them through a local newspaper because you don't want people coming to your home knowing you have gemstones there.
You might also like to add this query to my blog at http://how2valuejewelry.com/ as other may have had a similar problem. Can't hurt anyway and who knows what answers you may get.
